The history of Hershey

Hershey’s origin

Milton S. Hershey was the one to create the Hershey Chocolate Company in 1894. It was at first a subsidiary of his other company Lancaster Caramel company. In 1890 Hershey made the well-known famous Hersey chocolate bar that we know today after spending years using a milk processing plant so he could come up with the perfect recipe for his chocolate. During this time, Hershey decides to sell his caramel company seeing more potential in chocolate. In the year 1903, the town that is now known as Hershey Pennsylvania began a Chocolate plant where the Hershey company would start construction. This was Milton S. Hershey’s hometown, which was called Derry Church at the time. This same place would also give birth to the Hersheypark. Due to the rapid production on this plant, Hershey’s popularity skyrocketed.
